New, Easy Navigation through Eastern Accents Websites

Posted in Big News on March 11th, 2010 by seth – Be the first to comment

We’re enjoying a spring-like day here in Chicago, and as we look forward to moving out of winter and into the spring…we wanted to announce that we’ve added a new feature to our websites. We have a new navigation bar across the top of several of our divisional websites. Our goal with this change is to help customers (and potential customers researching what we do) learn what to expect from each of our main bedding lines…and be able to go directly, easily back and forth from one division to another.

New Navigation Bar on Eastern Accents Websites

This bar appears across the top of EasternAccents.com, deMediciFineLinen.com, NicheEA.com, EssentialsEA.com, and Studio773Pillows.com. Drag your mouse over a brand name in the bar…and you’ll see a small picture with descriptive bullets for that line. Click on the name in the bar, and you’ll go directly to that portion of our website (or to the website dedicated specifically to that brand).

Let us know what you think. If you have questions or comments about this or any other feature on our websites, leave a comment and we’ll try to answer them as quickly as possible. We’ll continue adding new features, new capabilities, and new content to our websites regularly during the next several months in order to serve you better.

Art of Hand-Painting…on Silk Bedding

Posted in Big News, Contemporary Bedding Collections, Eastern Accents Collections, Specialty Lines on February 22nd, 2010 by seth – Be the first to comment

A preview of Anthemion, expected in 2010

The art of textile painting has been in existence for thousands of years. Many ancient cultures used silk as a canvas for displaying magnificent works of art, as well as for practical use. Before the creation of paper, certain documents were once hand painted on silk. There are many different artistic techniques used on fabric that developed as civilizations developed. The use of dyes and waxes, brushing the paint on the fabric, and blocking printing are the most common methods of textile painting.

We named our new hand-painted silk program (currently in development) Anthemion. Anthemion is a Greek motif also referred to as a palmette.
Anthemion motif on silk - Eastern Accents

Hand-painted by Eastern Accents artists, this anthemion on silk is the central motif of a new hand-painted silk program expected in 2010.

The palmette depicts the fan shaped leaves of a palm tree which were most commonly seen in ancient Greek architecture and pottery. Our designer chose to explore working with this motif, along side our extremely talented in house artists, to produce incredible works of art on luxury bedding, home accent pillows, and curtain panels. We believe the result of this exploration has generated a truly unique and luxurious product line.

We expect to offer the following products in Anthemion: hand-painted silk luxury bedding, decorative accent pillows, and curtain panels. The bedding collection consists of a duvet, bed skirt, Euro and standard shams, bolster, and home accent pillows. Up to seven colors of silk may eventually be available with complimentary hand-painted colors. All or most products will be available in our signature Serico silk ivory, ocean, gold, brown and taupe. Contrasting paint colors include gold, brown, black and shiraz. We’ll keep you posted as new information becomes available. (As this is a collection still in development, details may change.)
